Hindu Arya vysya matrimony community is connected with the history of Goddess Kanyaka Parameswari..She is the Kula Deivam that is the Goddess of the Arya Vysya Community for them..This Deity is referred as Vasavi too and her history did take place in and around a place known as Penukonda in the present day district of West Godavari in Andhra Pradesh.. (There is another town with the same name in the Anantapur District of Andhra Pradesh..Please don’t get confused)..A special food made of egg plants is offered to this deity during festival times in the Sri Kanyaka Parameswari Temple in Chennai.
