Hindu Mapila community make up a large majority, Hindu Mapila brides and grooms share the common language of Malayalam with the other religious communities of Kerala. According to some scholars, the Mapila are the oldest settled community in South Asia. In general, a Mapila is either a native convert to Islam or a mixed descendent of any Middle Eastern individual.
