Hindu Otari matrimony, Watari — a little rank of. Smelters, discovered scattered everywhere throughout the Dominions. They take their name 'from the .Marathi verb otane which intends to pour or to notice. They are an utilitarian gathering, presumably enlisted from the respectable working classes, yet 'now solidified into an inflexible position. They look like Maratha Kunbis and talk the Marathi dialect. Hindu Otaris brides and grooms we found in these Dominions : They are (1) Bedari, (2) Ghatoli, (3) Nilamsi, (4) Yadali, (5) Kanchali and (6) Kolwana. These are tAostly regional gatherings, in light of the names of the nations they possess. As, Bedaris are found in the District of Bidar, Ghatolis harp on the Ghats, or in the District of Aurangabad, Nizamsis are to be found in the Districts of Bir and Parbhani, and Kanchalas in the Gulbarga Dis-trict, Kolwans are said to be Akarmasis, or ill-conceived relatives of the previously mentioned sub-stations, and are to be met with in the Deglur Taluka of the Nander District. Neither interdining nor intermarriage is permitted among individuals from these diverse gatherings. Their exoga-mous areas demonstrate the veracity of their Maratha starting point. Hindu Otaris brides and grooms spread with turmeric glue and oil and washed, each independently in their homes, 'warlis,' or earthen vessels are ritualistically brought from a potter's home by wedded females whose husbands are living, and kept under the wedding pandal. One of the pots is set near the MuTiurta Medha and secured witJi a light, which con-tinues to consume all through the service. As the propitious minute for the wedding moves close to, the kid is taken, on a bullock, to the Maruti's sanctuary where he is formally invited by the lady of the hour's gathering. A fantastic parade, shaped of the individuals from the two gatherings, directs the groom to the lady of the hour's home. Under the marriage stall the lady of the hour and the husband are made to stand confronting each other, a clotJi is held between, and the family cleric serenades mantras and sprinkles rice over their heads. The window ornament is pulled back and the couple trade laurels of blooms and move toward becoming husband and spouse. Kanyadan, Kankan-bandhanam, Horn and Sade take after and on the execution of the last custom the function is concluded.
